The Plus Two is a reputed and popular programme for the vast majority of students after their Secondary Education Examination (SEE) ever since it was launched by National Examination Board (NEB), Nepal. It is a two-year programme that has been meticulously designed to prepare students for enrollment in university degree programmes. Students who have completed the SEE or equivalent degrees are eligible to undertake this course. The NEB offers four streams namely Science, Management, Humanities and Education, of which only Science and Management are offered at GIHE till date. The board examination for the Grade XI and Grade XII are held annually at the end of the academic year or twelve months after the commencement of the course i.e. in April/ May every year.

Note: Management students must select one foreign language (Spanish/ German) as a compulsory value added subject.

We have a provision for Computer Science in the fi rst year as an option to Biology in the Science stream, while management students may take Computer Science as an alternative to Business Studies or Travel & Tourism.

To be eligible for admission in Plus 2 Science programme at GIHE, all prospective students must have passed the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) or an equivalent examination with a minimum GPA 2.8 or Grade B in Science, Compulsory Mathematics and Additional Mathematics in aggregate. Candidates applying for management stream do not require Additional Mathematics. The following materials are to be submitted along with the application form:

  • Mark sheet/ e-copy of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE).
  • Character Certificate
  • Certificates of awards or scholarships earned at school, if any.
  • Migration Certificate (Applicable for the students from boards other than SEE).
  • Two recently taken passport size photographs of student and one each of the parents.
  • A sealed recommendation letter from the principal/ vice principal or a teacher of the school last attended (can be submitted via email directly to addressed to the Coordinator)

We provide students with a stimulating environment for their enriched learning. At GIHE, students not only gain academic knowledge and skills but also develop their confidence through continuous assessments of their performance. We allot a maximum of 32 students per section to enable the faculty to give students proper attention and care. Students are encouraged to enquire and participate in discussions, and are assessed regularly through micro-tests, unit tests, monthly and terminal examinations. Generally, two cycles of unit tests and three terminal examinations are held in a year. In addition, project work, PP presentations, assignments, etc. are given to students on a regular basis to involve them in their own learning and to develop their knowledge and self-confidence.

Students are required to obtain a minimum of 40 percent marks in all the subjects in the internal assessment tests to qualify for the board examinations or else they will have to repeat the course in the following year.
